The Japanese manufacturer Datsun has once again surprised with a new crossover. Cars of this company began to appear more often on the roads of Russia and neighboring countries. Similarly, the manufacturer began to expand its market in Asia. Not to say that the variety of cars of this manufacturer is large, but as a start it is quite good.

The penultimate production model was the Datsun ON-DO sedan, but now the manufacturer has decided to expand towards crossovers, recently unveiling the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 at the Indonesian auto show. In appearance and interior, the car turned out to be peculiar, and not much like other brands of cars. Let's take a closer look at the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover externally and internally.

Exterior Datsun Go-Cross 2018

The appearance of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 with many body shapes immediately gives out that it is a crossover. The front of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is made in the characteristic style of this manufacturer. The radiator grille is made in a hexagonal shape with a silver trim. As an insert, the designers installed a grid with hexagonal holes, and the center under the company logo.

The optics of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover looks intimidating. Due to the horizontal bend on the glass, the optics seem to be divided into upper and lower parts. At the top, the direction indicator was placed, and at the bottom, the central lens of the high and low beam. At the bottom, there are also C-shaped LED daytime running lights, giving the 2018 Datsun Go-Cross crossover an even more austere style. Immediately under the central optics of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018, round fog lights were placed, similar to those in the Nissan Juke. The front bumper is divided into two parts, one painted to match the body color, the other serving as plastic protection, like most of the entire perimeter of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018.

The lower part of the bumper is curly, with a small plastic protection. The hood of the crossover looks as intimidating as the optics, curved lines stretch from the edge of the grille to the windshield, the central part is raised above the main one. According to the manufacturer, the windshield of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover depends on the configuration, in the basic version it is normal, and in the top configuration it is tempered and heated.

On the side, the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 stands out with a black, plastic underbody kit and silver sills. The front and rear wheel arches are decorated with plastic trims, the bottom of the doors are curved black trims. Unlike the concept shown, the production Datsun Go-Cross 2018 received a dedicated line from the front frame to the rear stops and other door handles. The rear doors received a curved line, which was also not on the concept.

The upper side of the new crossover Datsun Go-Cross 2018 received an additional third glass and for good reason. The crossover is designed for seven passengers, including the driver. The side mirrors are quite large, this allows the driver to maintain full control of the situation behind the Datsun Go-Cross 2018. The upper part of the body is painted in the color of the car's body, while the lower part and fasteners are made of black plastic. Standard kit includes LED turn signal repeaters, electric control and heating. For an additional fee or in top-end configurations, automatic folding mirrors will be added.

In terms of size, the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover turned out to be compact:

  • crossover length - 3995 mm;
  • width - 1670 mm;
  • height - 1560 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2450 mm;
  • clearance - 200 mm.


This ground clearance is fully consistent with this class of car. The new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 will need a minimum of 4.6 meters in diameter for a full U-turn. The basis for the novelty are branded 15 ″ alloy wheels. The manufacturer also gives recommendations on the use of tires of different sizes, in accordance with the climate.

The rear of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover is unique and, according to motorists, is similar to Renault crossovers. The boot lid is small, but the rear bumper is raised high enough. On the sides of the trunk lid there are halogen rear feet; the designers did not install optics on the trunk itself. The trunk lid of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 features an unusual shape and sporty style. The upper part is adorned with an extended spoiler with LED turn signal and two small aerodynamic holes.

The rear window is small, although it is enough for inspection, a wiper, a company emblem, chrome nameplates and a panel for Datsun Go-Cross 2018 license plates with a small strip on top are located on the end of the trunk.

The bumper of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 was nevertheless made large, loading oversized cargo will be inconvenient. On the sides of the bumper are small, rectangular foglights with hexagonal plastic edging. The very bottom is reserved for plastic protection and a silver plastic diffuser. Not to say that the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is similar to the Vesta Cross, but it still looks good.

What will be the body color of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover, the manufacturer has not yet said. Most likely these will be seasoned shades:

As before, the buyer cannot choose a different body shade or paint the crossover in two shades. For an additional metallic shade, the buyer of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 will need to pay 10,000 rubles. Otherwise, there are no special varieties or chrome parts for the buyer's choice yet, referring to the strict and inexpensive style of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover.

The last thing to consider in the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is the roof. In the concept, it was unusual with the so-called "chandelier", but in a production car it was solid with two rails for attaching an additional trunk or cargo.

The roof rails of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 are wide enough, a conventional antenna is located in the front of the roof, but in the top version, the antenna will be behind in the form of a shark fin. It is also planned to install a panoramic sunroof with an electric drive in the top-end configuration, but it is not yet listed in the price list of options. To strengthen the roof of the 2018 Datsun Go-Cross, engineers added stiffeners and strut forces around the crossover perimeter.

The exterior of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 in front is strict and looks menacing, but behind it is quite simple and a little not thought out. Although for Japanese cars these are the average standard crossover dimensions, the trunk is more likely intended for transporting small-sized cargo. Overall, the exterior resembles a mix of Nissan Juke, Mitsubishi ASX and some Renault crossovers.

Salon crossover Datsun Go-Cross 2018

The interior of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is not too spacious, but it is well equipped starting with the basic version of the crossover. As befits an inexpensive car, most of the parts are made of hard plastic. Despite the modern style and equipment, the center console is equipped with an average. The center is reserved for the touchscreen display of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 multimedia system, with a slight elevation, the designers placed two air ducts above the display, and under the display, the air supply regulator and the air conditioning or climate control panel. gearboxes to the front panel, freeing up more space between the front seats. A cigarette lighter and an emergency parking button were placed near the lever. Between the front seats, not to say that they won a lot of space, it was enough to place a mechanical handbrake and a cup holder. The door panels of the 2018 Datsun Go-Cross crossover are made in a combination of hard plastic and fabric sheathing.

The salon of the Japanese crossover Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is designed for 7 passengers, but the basic equipment is available only for five passengers (there is no third row of seats). The front seats are made for a sporty style, with small lateral support on the backrest and cast headrests. There is almost no lateral support for the lower part of the seats.

The second row of seats of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is designed for 3 passengers, although there are only two head restraints. The engineers did not think over the landing of passengers on the third row of seats, for this it will be necessary to completely fold back half of the second row seat, the seat folding ratio is 60/40. The manufacturer promised to correct this defect by dividing the seats into a ratio of 40:20:40 and to modify the landing of the third row passengers. There is also not so much space for passengers in the second row, and even the average passenger will rest their knees on the back of the front seat.

The third row of Datsun Go-Cross 2018 seats is designed for two passengers, there is enough space for children, while, according to reviews, the crossover seats turned out to be hard and not comfortable. If desired, they can be folded, thereby increasing the volume of the trunk. The designers used high-quality fabric as the material for the interior upholstery of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018; in the maximum configuration of the crossover, they used a combination of leather and fabric. In terms of color, the interior of the novelty is available in:

  • black, gray (for fabric upholstery);
  • black, black-gray, beige-gray (for leather and fabric).


The variety isn't great, but that's to be expected from an inexpensive crossover. For the most part, the manufacturer is counting on growth in sales statistics and is not yet planning to produce expensive cars. The adjustment of the front seats is mostly mechanical, electronic adjustment will be available only in the maximum configuration of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018.

The driving position of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 is simple with consistent shapes. The central part of the dashboard of the crossover is occupied by a large speedometer, the tachometer is located to the left. To the right of the speedometer is a small monochrome display of the on-board computer and indicators of vehicle instruments (direction indicators, lighting devices and other vehicle systems).

The steering wheel of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover is regular, medium-hard material, with small protrusions in the upper part. The designers did not invent a new steering wheel, using the same one used in the ON-DO sedan. The steering wheel can only be adjusted in height. To the right of the steering wheel, there are two small compartments for storing gadgets and other little things, here are also buttons for adjusting the side mirrors, an electrocorrector for the front optics and a button for the crossover stabilization system.

For an additional fee, the manufacturer offers to install a lot of additional decorations and additions to the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018. For example, LED interior lighting, driver's and front passenger's feet, an improved audio system (instead of the standard 4 speakers, it is suggested to install 6 or 8 speakers) ... The designers made the interior of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover consistent with the basic set of necessary tools and functions. Despite the many additions for a fee, you should not expect the comfort like a premium car, although the sound insulation is good, and it copes with the tasks.

Specifications Datsun Go-Cross 2018

Little is known about the technical characteristics of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018. According to the manufacturer, the main factor will be played by the country of delivery of the crossover. Under the hood of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018, there are two gasoline engines at the buyer's choice.

The first unit with a volume of 1.2 liters, depending on the gearbox, can produce 68 or 78 horses, the maximum torque is 104 Nm. To transmit torque to the wheels of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover, it is proposed to install a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT X-Tronic CVT. For the most part, such a unit will be available in Indonesia and the neighboring countries of Asia.


For the Russian market, they plan to install a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 8 valves. In a pair to the engine, the same gearboxes are installed as on the previous unit. In total, this version of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover can produce 87 horses. The maximum speed with a manual gearbox is 169 km / h, and acceleration to the first hundred on the speedometer is 11.6 seconds. Average fuel consumption is about 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Having installed a CVT gearbox, you will have to sacrifice dynamic performance, acceleration to hundreds - 12.9 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 165 km / h. Fuel consumption will also increase to 7.6 liters.

The same unit, but with 16 valves, will be able to produce 106 horses. Coupled to the engine, only a 5-speed mechanics is available, and acceleration to hundreds will take 10.6 seconds. The maximum speed mark on the speedometer is 179 km / h, the average fuel consumption is 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers. Both variants of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover are front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive is not provided.

Datsun Go-Cross 2018 safety

Given the characteristics of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover and budget interior materials, you should not count on a large list of security systems. As an example, consider a list of security systems in the maximum configuration:

  • anti-lock braking system;
  • rain and light sensors;
  • airbags (2 for the base, 4 for the top configuration);
  • vehicle stabilization system;
  • power steering;
  • navigation system;
  • standard alarm;
  • immobilizer;
  • rear camera (only for a complete set with a multimedia system);

According to the manufacturer, the list of security systems will increase, and the existing systems will move into the category of basic configuration. With comfort, we can note the presence of Bluetooth, Hands Free, heated front seats, USB charging for the first and second row of seats. Also, the ERA-Glonass system will be installed on the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover for the territory of Russia.

Configuration and price of Datsun Go-Cross 2018

It is not yet known exactly how many trim levels of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 will be presented in the Russian automotive market. The main differences between the complete sets will be technical (engine and gearbox), as well as security systems.

According to the manufacturer, towards the end of spring 2018, at least two basic configurations Trust I and Dream I should appear in official dealerships in Russia, and three more improved versions of these configurations will arrive closer to the middle of summer. In total, we get six complete sets, the basic version of the Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover will cost from 650,000 rubles, and the maximum configuration starts from 745,000 rubles. It can be assumed that the average price of a new crossover will cost about 689,000 rubles.

Comparing the price of the new Datsun Go-Cross 2018 crossover and its equipment, we can say that it will become a worthy competitor to budget cars in Russia. There are several reasons, the first is the low price, the second is a fairly good set of security and comfort systems, as for this class of car.
