In 2014, at the Paris Motor Show, BMW presented the new BMW 2-Series Convertible, replacing the already discontinued BMW 1-Series Convertible. The car is a harmonious addition to the two-door coupe BMW 2-Series Coupe, the first announcement of which was presented back in 2013.

Despite its "impracticality", the car is in consistently high demand not only in its home market, but also in a number of European and post-Soviet countries, including Russia.

In the summer of 2017, the company's management presented a restyled version of the BMW 2-Series Convertible, which received a corrected exterior and interior, as well as an expanded list of engines and equipment. Unlike most competitors, the new product looks equally good both with the soft roof down and up, which is still a rarity among convertibles.

Exterior BMW 2-Series Convertible 2018

Whichever way you look at it, the BMW 2-Series convertible looks amazing. "Muzzle" new items made in the corporate style of the Bavarian brand, but in comparison with the pre-styling version, it acquired full LED optics, a slightly modified front bumper and air intake.

As before, the car is pleasing to the eye with spectacular stampings on the hood, giving the car a more aggressive and dynamic look.

Machine profile possesses well-defined proportions and stands out with a long hood, lean stern, as well as elegant "splashes" on the sidewalls and, of course, a soft roof that folds down (the lifting / folding process takes about 20 seconds).

Although with a raised roof the car looks almost as stylish and dynamic as without it, the convertible roof dome is somewhat inferior to the ideal-shaped roof dome in the Coupe version.

Convertible feed received a neat rear bumper, LED position lights and a twin exhaust pipe, once again reminding that the car has good dynamic capabilities.

External dimensions of the updated BMW 2-Series convertible are:

  • Length - 4.432 m;
  • Width - 1,774 m (1,984 m including side mirrors);
  • Height - 1.413 m;
  • Wheelbase length - 2,690 m.

The minimum ride height is 140 mm, and the declared drag coefficient, despite the presence of a soft roof, is 0.29 Cx. The length of the front and rear overhangs is 780 and 962 mm, respectively.

Fans of maximum personalization will love the arrival of three new body colors (Sunset Orange, Seaside Blue and Mediterranean Blue), as well as a wide range of alloy wheel designs.

Interior of BMW 2-Series Convertible 2018

Following the external appearance, the interior design of the car was also somewhat updated, where the automaker slightly updated the architecture of the front dashboard, and also installed an advanced multimedia system and a new instrument cluster.

Driver's seat, traditionally for BMW cars, is distinguished by excellent ergonomics and high attention to detail, which once again confirms that this car is primarily aimed at maximum driver comfort and pleasure.

In front of the driver is a plump three-spoke multifunction steering wheel that allows you to control music, switch information from the on-board computer and answer incoming calls. In the upper part of the central dashboard, the manufacturer installed a large display of the multimedia and information complex, right below which are located: a row of air vents, an audio system and a microclimate control unit in the cabin.

Front passengers are offered stylish and comfortable front seatsboasting a wide range of adjustments (optionally with an electric drive), well-felt lateral support and optimal packing stiffness.

Between the seats of the first row is a massive central tunnel, which hides a platform for wireless charging of a smartphone, a gearshift selector lever and a free-standing iDrive control washer.

The car interior is made according to the 2 + 2 scheme, which means that two passengers can be accommodated on the back sofa, if necessary, but only people of average build or children will feel more or less comfortable here.

Behind the backs of the rear sofa is a small luggage compartment, about the characteristics of which the manufacturer decided to tactfully keep silent. However, we can safely assume that the volume of the luggage compartment of the convertible is only slightly inferior to the volume of the luggage compartment of the 2-series in the coupe, where it is equal to 390 liters.

As befits a premium car, the interior of the restyled BMW 2-Series Convertible 2018 is distinguished by high-quality assembly and the use of exclusively high-quality materials (genuine leather and wood, soft plastics and aluminum). Potential owners can choose from several interior color options - from discreet black to spectacular beige.

The manufacturer emphasizes that if the Eco Pro mode is selected, fuel consumption can be reduced to an impressive 20%.
